Family-supportive Organisational Perception: A Predictor of Life Satisfaction among Lagos State Employees

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine family supportive organisational perceptions as a predictor of life satisfaction among Lagos state employees. Through considering Allen’s (2001) 14 items, family supportive organisational perception was measured. Life satisfaction was assessed using Diener, Emmons, Larsen, and Griffin’s (1985) 5-items questionnaire, while gender, age, ethnicity, religion, education, marital status, organizational tenure, and organisational position were included as control variables because of their potential relationships with the dependent variables. The results uphold the two hypotheses put forward; there is a significant and positive relationship between family supportive organisational perception and life satisfaction, and gender significantly influences family supportive organisational perceptions. Based on these findings, conclusions and recommendations have been drawn for future research, to be carried out at both public and private levels.
