Income Support at the Nexus of Job Security and Labour Market Transitions

Abstract

This paper explores the intersection of labour market dynamics and income support instruments. While unemployment benefits are traditionally understood as mechanisms for mitigating the economic risks associated with partial or total job loss, this analysis considers their potential proactive function. Specifically, it investigates whether – and in what ways – such measures might contribute to promoting employment opportunities by supporting and accelerating transitions within the labour market.
