Resumen
La protección de la seguridad y salud de los trabajadores como medida para garantizar un trabajo decente y, con ello, contribuir a la justicia social, incluye como elemento necesario la protección de éstos ante las posibles radiaciones existentes en su puesto de trabajo. Protección en la que ha tenido un papel fundamental el Convenio de la OIT número 115, cuyo objetivo es reforzar el campo de la prevención como medida para proteger, de forma eficaz, la salud de los trabajadores y evitar la aparición de enfermedades ocupacionales relacionadas con un alto nivel de exposición a las radiaciones ionizantes en el entorno laboral. Para ello, establece un conjunto de medidas de prevención, control y vigilancia cuyos elementos centrales son la participación de todos los agentes y partes implicadas en las actividades ocupacionales expuestas a agentes radiactivos, así como la necesidad de adaptación de tales medidas a la evolución de la ciencia.
The protection of workers’ health and safety as a way of guarantee a decent work and, thereby, contribute to social justice, includes their protection from possible existing radiation in their work place as a necessary element against possible radiation. Protection in which ILO Convention No. 15 has played a fundamental role, since its objective is strengthening the field of prevention as a mean to protect workers’ health effectively and prevent occupational diseases related to high level of exposure to ionizing radiation in the work environment. Therefore, it establishes a set of surveillance and control actions whose central elements are the participation of all the agents and parties involved in the occupational activities exposed to radioactive agents, as well as the need to adapt such actions to the evolution of science. The purpose of this chapter is the analysis the content of the aforementioned agreement said agreement in relation to the regulations that Spain has developed for the achievement of such protection, whose most specific objective is the assessment of the degree of compliance with the measures implemented by the ILO and, in where appropriate, possible deficiencies and aspects of improvement.
